RIMS students perform "The Holiday Show"
On December 9th, 2011, the children of the Elementary School and the Casa of the Rhein-Main International Montessori School (RIMS) performed „The Holiday Show“ in the FORUM Friedrichsdorf. 140 pupils aged 3 to 10 had been working on this English musical under musical director and elementary school teacher Michael Johnson since summer. The idea was born by the Head of Elementary Mirela Duplancić.
The Christmassy scenery was in part created by the students themselves, who were standing on stage as trees or forest animals. A combination of traditional Christmas songs and festive customs from around the world lead through the wonderful wintertime – as seen through the eyes of the animals! This lead amongst other things to the Christmas goose (Anna Korzilius) promoting vegetarian Christmas, while the beavers (Natascha Albrecht, Kimberly Frahm, Franziska Schlüter, Luke Eitner, Lisa Groß, Aarran ten Wolde) agreed on the fact that Christmas trees in people's homes were merely lit such that they could find them more easily to enjoy the easy feast.
A highlight of the show were the 45 Casa kids who fluttered onto the stage as a flock of birds and sang „We wish you a Merry Christmas“. Be it Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, the 140 children delighted with their singing which was conducted by elementary school teacher Michael Johnson and accompanied by the musicians Stuart Young (piano), Till Franke (bass guitar) and Robert Merrick (drums). This impressive insight into international customs and songs created a Christmas atmosphere in the full hall of the Forum which lived on in the Christmas market which was set up in the foyer.
A big thank-you goes to the many parent helpers. This winter spectacle would not have been possible without their dedication behind the scenes.
